Another Mass Morgan come and gone
August 22, 2016
Now that the dust has settled — both figuratively and literally — on the 2016 Mass Morgan Horse Show, it’s time for a look back on some fantastic performances at one of our favorite shows of the season.
Something’s Got To Give looked right at home in his Western classes and showed marked improvement class after class. We are looking forward to the 2017 show season as this his handsome boy is well on his way to being a great competitor in the Western Pleasure division!
You would never know that it was the first time that Hylee Too Late For T Time was in an indoor ring as she seemed to take all of noise and commotion in stride thanks to Montanna’s patience and encouragement. This beautiful brown mare earned a 6th out of 10 in the qualifier, and fifth out of 14 in the championship to the delight of her owner.
It was truly Hylee’s I’ve Arrived time to shine at this show, taking reserve championship honors in the Limit Rider class. He and his owner have built a wonderful partnership through lots of hard work and it was on display at Mass Morgan!
Mass Morgan also saw the debut of the next generation of riders at WTM. Adorable Cameron Grace participated in the Academy Division, taking home a third in the pleasure, and a first in the equitation classes. A very special thank you to Bittersweet Farm for lending us the unflappable Beta B Provacative “Annie.”

Al recently visited visited students at the New Light School in New Haven during a history of the horse in the Americas lesson, a collaborative program between the New Light School Beyond The Bell summer school and Conte School summer school programs.

A Winning Week at Connecticut Morgan Open
June 14, 2016
Connecticut Morgan is one of our very favorite shows to attend - this show boasts great weather, great hospitality, and a full line-up of Morgan classes, and this year did not disappoint!
We began the week with the debuts of Lynn Fuda's beatufiul yearlings in the in hand division. Our favorite curvy filly, Newmont's Angelina, strutted her way to a 3rd place pinning in a competitive yearling fillies class. The entries may have been light in the junior stallion division, but Newmont's Mocha Man turned heads on the rail with his exotic good looks. 'Nero' was named champion junior colt and grand champion junior stallion.
We've been eagerly looking forward to the debut of Kate Kosma and her new partner, Take Cover, and what a grand debut they made! 'Fitz' and Kate worked the rail to their advantage and made some beautiful passes, culminating in winning the Hunter Pleasure Limit Rider qualifier and championship. But they weren't done yet! This bold pair also pinned third in the amateur hunter qualifier and fourth in the amateur ladies qualifier.
Cherrydale Ariella 'Ella' rose to the top of a big hunter in hand class before going on to win reserve grand champion specialty in hand. She went on to give some lovely perfomances in the amateur hunter division with owner/rider Ashleigh Wood, pinning third in the amateur ladies qualifier and fourth in the amateur qualifier.
Derawnda's Strong Wind made us proud in his second trip off the farm, navigating his way through the heavy traffic of the novice/limit hunter division. 'Gust' pinned second in a competitive 4 year old class, third in the Junior Horse Championship, and earned good ribbons in the deep novice/limit horse classes. Not too shabby for a horse who's been broke to saddle for less than 4 months!
Finally, handsome Hylee's Bushmill went two for two at CT Morgan, winning both the qualifier and championship for the Classic Pleasure Saddle Junior/Novice Horse division. 'Winston' bravely came off the rail to make the best possible passes, showed off his teacup canter, and posed for his winning photos with owner/rider Ashleigh Wood.
Next stop? Summer Kick-Off in Northampton, MA. We'll see you on the rail!

UPHA Chapter 14 Spring Premiere Results!
April 25, 2016
Our thanks to our clients, the show committee, the judging panel, and our fellow exhibitors for a great week at UPHA Spring Premiere!
-
Hylee’s I’ve Arrived made a strong showing in the hunter pleasure divisions with Yvette Pieck, even pinning 3rd in a big class of novice riders. “Axel” spent the winter learning dressage, and put his sporty new moves to good use this week, securing some great spots on the rail.
-
Derawnda’s Strong Wind made a stunning show ring debut with Montanna Lambrecht – “Gust” handled traffic like a pro, and came off the rail to show off his fancy extensions in junior/novice hunter pleasure. Go, Gust!
-
Hylee’s Bushmill made his big amateur debut in the classic pleasure saddle division! “Winston” has matured into quite the handsome guy, and pinned a respectable 5th in the ladies classic qualifier and 3rd in the open classic qualifier with his happy owner, Ashleigh Wood. A packed Friday morning schedule meant that Montanna got to put in a (winning!) catch ride with Winston in the junior/novice horse qualifier.
-
Hylee’s Rare Bear and Zoe Jones make an elegant pair for the classic pleasure division. This duo worked hard all week to perfect their ring strategy, and put in a strong ride to finish 5th in the competitive jr. exhibitor classic pleasure saddle championship. We are so proud of the hard work Zoe has put into mastering “Slash”.
-
Cherrydale Ariella “Ella” came off the rail to show off in the week’s deep hunter pleasure classes, and secured a strong 5th place finish in the amateur hunter pleasure qualifier for owner/rider Ashleigh Wood.
-
Of special note are future dynamos Newmont’s Angelina and Newmont’s Mocha Man! These two beauties had their very first horse show experience in preparation for the in hand division later this year.

A Belated Welcome to Take Cover!

A long overdue update, but better late than never!
Congratulations to Kate Kosma on her selection of Take Cover (BKC Valiant Star x Queen's Midori)! Look for "Fitz" and Kate in their debut this spring in the amateur hunter pleasure division. Our thanks to Katie Mair of Sterling Training Center (Howell, MI), who served as agent for the seller.

Congratulations to the Kosma Family!
March 25, 2016
Congratulations to Kellyann Kosma on her very first Morgan horse, Derawnda Brooks & Dunn (JMF Wind Walker x CFM Blaze of Glory). "Brooks" will continue his training under the Wynter Thyme Manor banner, preparing for his debut in the western pleasure division. We are so excited to watch this pair grow together!
